Arising between the cracks,
Wooden grooves carved by time,
Small nuisances– how do you come?
You mustn’t confide in the unmoving.
Once you speak your sorrows into stone
You are taken there to die.
Is there life for us beyond this?
Your castle caves at night.
All of the cracks you lie in,
It is all returning.
The clap of thunder
Before you pour into me
For the final time…
We are entirely infinite.
Nothing is ever final,
Especially the end.
Allow the tide to take you as you are;
It’ll unravel the loose threads for you.
Sleep on the waters surface,
Allow it to cradle you
To a place you had forgotten.
Everything of yours was once mine
And I see flickers of your light everywhere.
A storm terrorizing each grain of my life,
Am I meant to uproot the only love I know?
You haven’t stopped seeping in
Where you should not exist.
Shout your apologies to the current,
It nurtures even urchins and eels!
It is the closest thing to God in the city
And you desperately need a love to cling onto.
When they reach the foot of my dock–
I’m sure you know this–
Beneath the cracks, I will emerge
Splintered and all
And the venture back home
Will begin again.
